Why use React for _____ ?
Why use React for a news site / travel sites / mostly static sites / whatever?1
It's not because of middle managers / everyone just drinking the kool-aid / crappy JS developers who don't know anything / people are stupid.
Look, React isn’t the best choice for everything. But it’s a reasonable choice for more things than you might think!
Sometimes it makes sense to use a consistent framework across an organization.
Or, sometimes a site is more interactive than you’re giving it credit for. (See the New York Times’s interactive articles)
With server components you won’t even need to ship as much JS to clients! For much of a page, React can be a server-only templating language.
My point isn’t that you should use React when you don’t think it’s appropriate. It’s that other people aren’t bad or stupid for making that choice. They might be making trade-offs you haven’t considered.
Even a ray-casting engine!
